Salvatore L. Scarmardo xxxxx Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404 XXX-XXXX November 13, 2002 Dr. Barry Cassidy, PHD/PA/C 9545 East Doubletree Road Scottsdale, Arizona 85258 Dear Sir: This is a letter that I addressed this morning to our local newspaper, consider yourself copied and realize the extent that you are negatively impacting our community. I have to take exception to the article on the front page of today's issue of your paper regarding Dr. Abe Saiz. What the article fails to mention, is that in just about every one of the mentioned instances, Dr. Saiz was operating on very critical patients and on patients that other Surgeons had already deferred on and wanted airlifted to Phoenix or Las Vegas. The persons in question, would likely not have survived these airlifts as most of the patients that did not survive the surgical procedures suffered from ruptured aneurysms and other critical emergency situations. The window for successful surgery on these types of patients is tallied in minutes not hours. I am appalled that the Chief of Staff of Havasu Regional is not raising holy heck and supporting his colleague more vigorously. Dr. Saiz served as my Surgeon once and worked miracles on several friends and acquaintances. In EVERY instance, the results were outstanding and recovery time brief. This community would suffer greatly and preventable casualties will invariably be the result if Dr. Saiz is not restored immediately to full medical and surgical certification. It is a fact that several people died in emergency situations but far more important is the legion of people that Dr. Saiz has saved on the operating table. Instead of persecuting a truly fine Doctor, we need instead to look at abuses perpetrated by malpractice Attorneys. Sam Scarmardo, LHC Resident. < Return To Dr. Saiz's Page |
