Havasu Surgery Center November 5, 2002 Ronald Palmer The Board of Medical Examiners State of Arizona 9545 E Doubletree Ranch Road Scottsdale, Arizona 85258 Regarding: A. Abe Saiz, M.D. Dear Mr. Palmer: I am a physician currently practicing in Lake Havasu City. I am Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Prior to moving to Lake Havasu City, I was an Associate Professor in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. This is a major trauma and cardiac center. I have active privileges at Havasu Regional Medical Center and at The Havasu Surgery Center, where I also hold the position of Medical Director. I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Saiz on numerous occasions, both at the Havasu Regional Medical Center and The Havasu Surgery Center on a vast array of cases. During my twelve years of experience, I have had the opportunity to work with multiple surgeons of different calibers and expertise. Dr. Saiz's surgical skill and expertise has continued to amaze me. In my opinion he is one of the best surgeons I have ever worked with. His interaction with patients, his technical skill, postoperative care and dedication to his profession has always been excellent. Prior to the arrival of Dr. Saiz to Lake Havasu City everything except the most basic cases had to be referred out of town. This was a great hardship for most of our citizens, especially our senior citizens. It was a godsend to have Dr. Saiz, a board certified general surgeon with a fellowship in vascular surgery, capable of handling most of these surgical cases being referred out of town. Due to the critical and extremely high-risk patients he operates on, there have been a few mortalities. However these patients only hope was to be referred out of town, to a tertiary hospital where the outcome would probably not have been any different. I cannot even begin to count how many people he has saved that have come through the hospital emergency room. Dr. Saiz is widely respected by our medical community and he has served as Chief of Surgery for two consecutive terms. He has operated on family members of the medical community per their request. His superior surgical skill is common knowledge. It is thus with great shock we receive the news of the boards judgment. Dr. Saiz's skill and expertise is needed within our community. He is a fine surgeon and should be allowed to practice. By not allowing him to do so, it is the community that is losing out. We, the citizens, feel the loss. We would appreciate your urgent consideration of this matter. Mandeep Powar, M.D. Medical Director kO < Return To Dr. Saiz's Page |
