RE: A. ABE SAIZ, M.D.
To To Whom It May Concern:
We are writing in behalf of A. Abe Sail, M.D. We realize that many
of our colleagues have already verbalized their support. As physicians
of conscience, in our practices and within our community, we must
assist in illuminating what is clearly a travesty of the medical
justice system.
We have worked along side Dr. Saiz for a combined five years. We
have called upon
Dr. Saiz's expertise on innumerable occasions. As head and neck
surgeons, it is always a comfort to have Dr. Saiz's vascular and
thoracic surgery skills ready for immediate backup.
It has been stated by many top University professors of surgical
fields and authors of core is that `if you don't have complications,
then you are not actually operating.' These are important words
that none of us who call ourselves "surgeons" like to
acknowledge in our hearts. Howeverit is with a heavy heart that
our minds know it is true. Instead of judging Dr. Saiz only on these
particular unfortunate deaths and areas of documentation, rather
evaluate him on the countless lives he has saved. No one denies
that the Board of Medical Examiners makes its best effort to protect
the community. Consider the lives of the people who needlessly die
'on-route' to Phoenix, and the personal and financial hardship on
our patients who must be `shipped out' due to lack of available
surgical services. You are certainly protecting our citizens and
the surrounding areas by allowing the continued practice of our
most valuable surgical asset.
Dr. Saiz deservedly holds the title general surgeon, vascular surgeon,
Chief of Surgery, friend, mentor, and lifesaver. Please do not strip
this community of one of our most valuable medial assets. Render
you decision in this particular situation with the most careful
consideration. The potential ramifications of your decision affect
not only the life of an esteemed surgeon, but also the overall health
of an entire community.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Prater, M.D.
